Project Hail Mary
I read Andy Weir’s Project Hail Mary. It was absolutely fascinating. I can see why it has been so highly praised everywhere.
I too became completely engrossed and finished it in just two days. Since there are still people who have yet to read it, I won’t say anything about the story itself, but I do think the experience is far more powerful if you shut out all outside information and start reading right away.
This is a bit of a change of subject, but the author has a short story called The Egg. It is published on his official website and can be read for free.
I read this quite a long time ago. It was before The Martian was adapted into a film, so I think it must have been around 2014. Even back then, I was deeply moved. This too is a truly remarkable piece. I recommend reading it without knowing anything beforehand.
Now for a completely different topic. I happened to come across an interesting video on YouTube. It compares humanity’s expectations of generative AI to the film Whiplash.
Human beings are, indeed, creatures who so quickly become accustomed to things.
